Spiritual Meaning of Seeing a Blue Jay
The Blue Jay is a very mystical and powerful Spiritual Sign. If the Blue Jay has entered your life it is likely that with him he brings a multitude of lessons and teachings for you and your Spiritual Path. Among the many lessons of the Blue Jay are communication, intelligence, adaptation, cloaking your energy with the help of Spirit, being a good partner and provider, using your energy and your gifts for regeneration of the Collective and the Earth and even a little bit of trickery for Spiritual Protection and to ensure your needs are met when you feel overpowered by other energies. Read on to explore the ways the Blue Jay communicated these messages to you.
Foremost, I believe the Blue Jay is a symbol of communication. The Jay’s bright blue feathers can symbolize the throat chakra and connection with the Divine. The Blue Jay relies heavily on communication with its partner and with other members of its flock. They have amazing range and control of their voice. A Blue Jay can throw its voice to some degree to alert the flock that it has found food or to the threat of danger. The other birds learn to watch the Blue Jay and listen to what he says so they can use his gifts of seeing and sensing danger and heed his call. Blue Jays can sometimes get a bad rap about being aggressive with other garden birds, but in truth the Blue Jay is a welcome Spirit to have around, whether you be another bird or a human. If the Blue Jay has come into your life he may be asking you to listen to your inner voice, as well as the voice of Spirit. Could Spirit be alerting you to abundance and opportunities you may have not seen? Or the Blue Jay could be alerting you to oncoming danger. If this is the case, keep in mind that the Blue Jay’s voice or communication can travel a good distance. Spirit will be sending you this warning about danger well in advance and with plenty of time to prepare in the ways you need to. Spirit may also be asking you if you are using your voice for good or to the degree that is possible. You may also encounter the Blue Jay if you are feeling blocked in your throat chakra or feel that you are having trouble speaking out or speaking your authentic truth. In this case, the Blue Jay is likely visiting you to share with you his strength in voice and projection.
As a fellow member of the Corvus genus, the Blue Jay is a partner to the Crow energy. You may find that you have a connection with the Crow Spirit as well as the Blue Jay Spirit. The Crow takes special note of what the Blue Jay does. It assists the Crow in sensing any danger in the landscape and as Spiritual Partners they can work together. The Blue Jay is extremely intelligent and perceptive. Blue Jays are able to learn the call of other birds. I have even heard the Blue Jay mimic a squirrel before. You may have noticed at times hearing a strange “hawk” or a multitude of other birds that sounds just a bit off. That was probably a young Blue Jay practicing its newly acquired language. This is a special spiritual message to receive. If a Blue Jay is making you privy to its secret language and way of mimicking other birds, Spirit may be telling you that you too have the ability to speak the energetic language of others. Spirit could be telling you this is a strength you have. We often times put ourselves into a box and Spirit may want to awaken you to the expansive nature of your gifts and all the ways it can reach other people for many different reasons. This trait of the Blue Jay may also symbolize masking your energy.
Masking energy sometimes is seen as a negative when really it can be a powerful tool of protection. If you are a person who wears their heart on their sleeve and is authentic in the way you interact with others, Spirit may be letting you know that at times it is healthy to use your gifts mask your energy from those who wish to do you harm. You may not need to do this often and Spirit could be making you aware that this is an option or strength you have when you feel particularly persecuted or spied on. Your heart is still true and you are still authentic, but those who seek to only take of your energy will see your energy differently, and that’s not a bad thing! Blue Jay’s also use this mimicking skill when they feel overpowered at the bird feeder. They may make the Hawk’s call and the other garden birds may scatter, allowing the Blue Jay to get what it needs to sustain itself. Perhaps Spirit is sending you a message about knowing your audience. Each of us has many strengths and a range of emotions and attitudes. It can be healthy to let other parts of your Soul speak out, especially if you are working towards or working in the public sphere or with other people. It is beneficial at times to let yourself be seen in a different light. By doing this it may lead to more abundance for you or lead you to finding abundance that sustains you. This can also be symbolic of learning to speak another energetic language. You may be being given a message that while your energy is authentic and true, you have the ability to transform the way that energy is delivered or received for your highest possible outcome. This of course can be beneficial to other people as well as they will benefit from you doing the “leg work” to translate your energy or ideas into a format that is easily digestible or understood by them. This can be a powerful trait of healing and transmutation.
Blue Jays can be somewhat secretive with their practices. So know that if a Blue Jay is trying to get your attention or seems to be sending you a message, this is very special! The Blue Jay is an excellent partner and provider for its mate, although this may seldom be observed. If you are lucky, you may see the male Blue Jay wooing his chosen mate in the spring and summer. He may throw her a peanut and will show her where to find the best food. He watches over her as she feeds and is never far from her. This is interesting to see in wild birds. The male will sacrifice some of his food or the best food for his mate. The Blue Jay can be observed doing this in winter as well as the food supply dwindles, making his sacrifice all the more palpable. If the Blue Jay is your Spirit Animal you may be self sacrificing for the greater good. You are likely a very good romantic partner who is observant of your partner’s needs and do the work to meet them. You are likely a provider to others, either financially or emotionally. You may keep close watch over your partner, family and friends and are ready to jump in and help where you can. When out of balance you may be self sacrificing at the cost of your own wellbeing or leave little time for self care. You may also be prone to impulsive outbursts of speech, come off as intense or speak out of turn. When out of balance there is a chance also that you become quiet and do not tell others what you need.
Blue Jays play a large roll in reforesting areas. Science is not entirely sure how the Blue Jay picks the right acorn to bury. Nevertheless, he does it and he brings new life to areas that need it. This is a symbol for the mysterious ways Spirit works through you. It may not always be understood by others. At times, it may not even be understood by yourself. But Spirit works through you and you likely have an ability to reach the masses. Your energy is able to travel great distances, and once your energy finds its way to where it is going it takes on a life of its own. Spirit may be letting you know that you have healing abilities. These abilities may be unseen by you at this time or partially hidden. This is an invitation to co-create with Spirit and see what forest grows from your combined efforts. Your healing abilities may have to do with Earth healing and nature, but it does not have to be.
